Inauguration of Secular Carmel. 15.17.2007

The Secular Carmelite Order (OCDS) was formerly  inaugurated on 15 July, 2007 at our Church. Rev. Fr. John Lobo, the Parish Priest as well as the Spiritual Director of the Order along with other four representatives lighted the lamp and wished that the light lit today may inspire many to dedicate themselves to the Order and may enable many to climb the mountain of God i.e., Jesus the Way, the Truth and the Life. In his words of welcome the Director appreciated the generosity of the participants and briefed about the necessity of joining the Order.  Br. Stephen Pereira, the Animator enlightened the minds of the aspirants regarding the Order, the scriptural background, its development, advantages, and the responsibilities of the members. Later, for the better coordination of the Order a president and a secretary were elected. Mr. Patrick Fernandes and Mrs. Esther volunteered to be the President and Secretary respectively. It was decided that the members would gather on the 4th Sunday of every month for a meeting and prayer. The Director thanked the aspirants for dedicating themselves to the Marian Order i.e., Secular Carmelite Order and resolving to reach perfection as Jesus commanded in the Gospel, "Be perfect as your Heavenly Father is perfect" (Mt 5: 48)
